Keyword Domination Review

Software Type: Web Based.
Cost: $ 97.00 a month.

I recently heard about a new keyword research tool that Keith Baxter released called Keyword Domination. I am a subscriber to his Stealth Traffic Secrets private site within which he constantly shares fantastic information. I reckon he is one guy you should watch closely as he is very successful in what he does. He is prolific in trying new things out and is on the cutting edge of the latest techniques that work.

Because of my positive prior experiences with Keith I was excited to see exactly what kind of keyword research tool he had developed. I guessed it would was based on his experience, and the workflow that he needed for his own projects.

When I jumped in and used the tool, I was not disappointed. In fact it exceeded my already high expectations.

My Experience

Keyword Domination is actually a very simple tool. It’s not complicated to use, and on first inspection might appear pretty basic for the $97 per month subscription fee. It’s only when you start using it that you start to realize exactly how powerful it is, and how it does many things that virtually no other tool on the market will do.

(For those who are short on time, you should skip down to see an impressive example of how powerful it actually is.)

Keyword Domination has four major sections:

  1. Keyword Research
  2. Keyword Density
  3. Keyword Translation
  4. Keyword Cleanup

Let’s take a look as each of these sections in turn.

Keyword Research (on steroids)

Keyword Domination works differently to other keyword research tools. As a result, it may not be suited to everyone’s needs as it doesn’t provide a highly dynamic and interactive interface. As a result, you probably will want to use a tool like Keywords Analyzer for your initial research. Once you know roughly what you are looking for, that’s when Keyword Domination kicks into overdrive and takes your keyword research to the next level. Sort of like keyword research on steroids.

The interface is a simple search box with several options that control the output that is generated. You can filter keywords, apply an adult filter as well as specify whether or not you wish to have search volume and estimated clicks returned.

One extra feature which I found to be very useful was the batch process feature. This allows you to upload a whole list of keywords all at once. So once you have done your preliminary research you can just dump those keywords into a text file and feed it to Keywords Domination to blow them up.

As usual, I entered the phrase “fly fishing” to do my test search on. I just used the default settings and pressed enter. It instantly added my phrase to the queue. A few minutes later I was sent an email to tell me that the job was complete.

I was a little taken aback when I opened the CSV file and found 8921 highly relevant keyword phrases. This was quite amazing for such a simple search. I typed in just one keyword phrase and it gave me 7921 more keywords than any other tool using the same simple search. If I wanted to do a deeper dig using more base keywords I could have generated tens of thousands more.

Here’s the actual CSV file that it generated for me. Have a look at how many keywords are in there! Also, take a look at the extra example I give at the end of the review as well to show you this isn’t a fluke.

You’ll notice that there isn’t any PPC or competition data within the CSV file. When I asked about this, Keith told me about some exciting new features that are going to be added to the Keyword Domination service in the next week or two.

Shortly, there will also be competition data added to all keyword phrases. Now this isn’t your regular KEI type competition analysis, but more useful indicators like intitle, inanchor, allinanchor, allintitle, intitle + inanchor operators.

These operators provide a more reliable understanding of your competition as they tell you how many sites have those keywords in their domain name, in their titles as well as in their anchor text. I am excited to see these indicators implemented shortly.

I also hear there is PPC data on the near horizon as well which will be amazing to see applied to these huge lists. There’s no doubt that you will be able to find loads of unique and inexpensive keywords within lists this size.

Keyword Domination allows you to generate 1 million keywords or phrases a month. This should be more than enough for most users and you can purchase more credits if necessary.

Keyword Density

Keyword Domination has an extra method to research in a more exploratory way. The “keyword density” section allows you to enter a URL, for example a competitors, to see what keywords they’re using on their site. It then returns you the keywords that are most used and allows you to search directly on those keywords found.

Sounds good in theory, but in practice I didn’t find it particularly beneficial as it only returned me single words. Most of the research I do involves phrases rather than single keywords.

Keyword Translation

The keyword translation tool that’s contained within Keyword Domination is one of the most advanced I have encountered. Particularly due to it’s batch processing functionality.

Quite simply, you refine your list of keywords down into a text or CSV file and load it into the box. Then choose whether you require Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese or Spanish and press the “Upload and Process” button.

Keyword Domination then goes out and translates your entire list into the language that you selected ready for you to download within a few minutes. Savvy marketers will realize the power of this. You now have a brand new list of powerful keywords with hardly any competition at all (because most marketers focus on English markets only).

This is great for those wanting to find much cheaper PPC keywords or perhaps new pages for your AdSense focused sites.

Keyword Cleanup

The keyword cleanup section of Keyword Domination is a toolkit to automate the manipulation of your keyword lists. This section has already grown somewhat since the time I have been subscribed which is a great sign that Keith is listening to the suggestions of his members.

Here are the tools they have available at the time of writing:

  • Keyword Cleaning – This tool removes the spaces and symbols that sometimes appear in your keyword lists, and are a pain to remove when you have to add them to your PPC campaigns.
  • Keyword List Splitter – This splits your keyword list into groups of 2,000 (or any number) so you can create multiple campaigns with your keyword lists. This is useful because AdWords and others have a 2000 word cap.
  • Keyword Sorting - Sorts the keywords alphabetically.
  • Capitalization - Modify the capitalization of your keywords.
  • Keyword Mixup - Jumbles the keywords.
  • Unique Keywords - Removes duplicate keywords from your lists. Very useful.
  • Adwordizer – This provides the correct formatting for "Exact Match" and [Phrase Match] for your AdWords keyword lists.
  • Keyword Randomizer – This tool randomizes the order of your keyword lists. This is a commonly used way of growing your keyword lists dramatically. You would probably want to run the list through the duplicate remover tool afterwards.
  • Alphabetical Order – A more advanced alphabetical sort tool.
  • Limit Number of Words – Allows you to choose the maximum number of words per keyphrase (great for Adwords and also for filenames).

Because of the sheer size of the lists that Keyword Domination generates, I found these tools not just useful, but necessary. For example, AdWords only allows you 2000 keywords per campaign, so when your lists are close to 10,000 keywords you need to split these up. I used the Keyword Splitter tool to easily break these apart.

An Amazing Example

I already gave you a taste of how powerful this software is based on my usual ‘fly fishing’ example. However, it was only when I began using this tool for real world research did I truly appreciate how powerful this tool is when used correctly.

The “insurance” arena is a very popular subject that many affiliates are highly successful within due to high paying lead commissions. However, it’s a fierce space to compete in. You need to carve yourself out your own niche if you want to do well here.

I was interested in how someone could use Keyword Domination to get an edge on other competing affiliates in such a competitive area. So here is what I did.

I did some quick research on what kinds of insurance that people were purchasing. I swiftly found around 30 different types of insurance (or ways to describe insurance). I refined these down to 20 in a simple text file. This took me about 5 minutes as I wasn’t particularly thorough. I reckon if I tried harder I could have found lots more.

I then went ahead and loaded this text file into Keyword Domination using the batch function. It was strange as I felt almost lazy just loading in all my keywords at once; strange, but good.

I pressed submit and let Keyword Domination go about its business. I guess that whole process took me about 6 minutes.

I received an email approximately 20 minutes later telling me that my job was finished. I was able to go on with other research tasks while my “insurance” job was processing. I downloaded my “insurance” zip file and took a look at what Keyword Domination produced for my 6 minutes work. What I found was fantastic.

To truly appreciate the outcome of this insurance research project I need to give you a few stats. Don’t worry; they are not too complex so hang in with me. Here goes.

For 6 minutes work, Keyword Domination returned me:

  • 128,945 highly relevant keyword phrases

which was

  • 126,945 more keyword phrases than Overture gave me for the equivalent searches

and

  • 108,945 more keyword phrases than Wordtracker or Keyword Discovery gave me for the equivalent searches.

Amazing! Now you need to think about this. With this data I can target well over 100,000 keywords that most of my competitors won’t have access to. Those keywords will be wide open for the taking.

Now let’s take a look at some more hard facts. These extra “missed” keywords will be giving us access to:

  • 27,154,757 (over 27 million) extra searches a month that people who just use the Overture keyword research tool won’t have access to (so searches on keywords outside of the top 100).

and

  • 10,228,493 (over 10 million) extra searches a month that people who just use the Wordtracker or Keyword Discovery research tool won’t have access to (so searches on keywords outside of the top 1000).

Incredible stuff! At least well over 10 million low competition leads that you can tap into that even savvy marketers will probably miss.

With examples like this, it is easy to appreciate just how powerful Keyword Domination is. If you want a competitive edge on other marketers, this is an easy way do it. Here are a few more quick ideas for how you could use the massive keyword lists that Keyword Domination generates.

You could:

  • Get ideas for thousands of new pages for your AdSense sites.
  • Generate massive PPC lists so you can bid on keywords with little to no competition. Great for PPC arbitrage.
  • Find new niche markets and expose all of its related areas.
  • Take your existing keyword lists and make them even 10 times larger.

UPDATE: I just spoke with Keith, and he has agreed to give Keyword Workshop readers two extra special bonuses.

Firstly, he has allowed me to share my “insurance” research spreadsheet with you all. You will be able see exactly the insurance terms I was researching and the search volume data for all of these.

Secondly he has graciously said that he would add an extra 300 credits to your account. That is a 30% bonus which allows you to find an extra 300,000 keywords!

He said to just send a quick email (to support AT keyworddomination.com) mentioning Keyword Workshop and he will send you the spreadsheet, as well as manually upgrade your account. Thanks Keith!

I highly recommend Keyword Domination.

What can you do with 128 thousand keywords You can't paste then into the index file, as you said adwords allows only 2k, so what advantage, and how can you make use of so many keywords Oh, and what were the numbers for at the end of each keyword. (did I just expose my newbieness) Thanks!

What can you do with 128 thousand keywords I can think of lots of things to do with 128,000 keywords! Tap into them. Create multiple campaigns and insert them all. A bit more work, but lots less competition. Sometimes doing what others won't is what seperates you from the rest. The numbers at the end of the keywords is the search volume and estimated clicks.

I was just listening to the launch podcast for Keyword Domination. The claims in that call don't seem to align with the review. That is, the developers claimed the tool would resolve phrase order issues (e.g. "fly fishing montana" vs. "fishing fly montana"), which it does not appear to do. I give it kudos for exhausting the possible list of combinations, but Keywords Analyzer has a similar Advanced Search mode which does the same thing. Second, the developers claimed the search estimates are not skewed by search bots (e.g. KA or KD), yet the numbers seem to match those of KA. I do see the "Click Estimates" as very valuable, if it truly reflects organic search clickthrus and not PPC clickthrus. For 97 a month, I just don't see that much of an added benefit. (My 2 cents.)

I'm currently using wordtracker. Is Keyword Domination compatible with Keyword Result Anlayzer. Please advise Willie

I'm very interested in KD. Is the bonus of extra 30 kewywords still valid. Please advise. Thanks you. Willie

[Yep! Just ask them for it when you sign-up. - Jay]

I laughed when i read this review. keyword domination is just using the keyworddiscovery API. Its database is ALL from keyworddiscovery.

[Yep, you're right. Which is nearly $500 a month and doesn't have the same analysis and extra tools as Keyword Domination (which is less than $100 a month). - Jay]
